Two lucky Kivites recently had the pleasure of attending the annual Willamette Valley Sustainable Foods Alliance dinner. Aside from the delicious fare, it was a chance to meet and mingle with some truly inspiring people.
WVSFA is a relatively young organization whose goal is to "establish recognition of the Willamette Valley as a premiere source of natural foods through shared values, relationships, education, and sustainable business practices". One of the ways the group supports these ideals, is to encourage a sense of collaboration between local business's instead of a spirit of competition.
Highlights from the evening included recognizing outgoing board members, the award of Sustainable Innovation in Business going to Sweet Life Patisserie, and hearing about member accomplishments over the last year. We also got meet the prospective board members and ask them questions regarding their ides for the future of this organization and it's individual member businesses.
The Kiva feels honored to have been included and looks forward to upcoming community events.
